Massachusetts Citizens for Children (MCC) works to improve the lives of Massachusetts Children through the following programs.

Prevent Child Abuse Massachusetts

The mission of Prevent Child Abuse Massachusetts is to prevent the abuse and neglect of our state's children. We work to empower the public to take an informed and active role in child abuse prevention. We are the State Chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America, the nation's premier private child abuse prevention organization.

Massachusetts Kids Count

An important part of effecting change in the attitudes of the public and the priorities of legislators is presenting the facts about children and families. Through the Massachusetts Kids Count Project, MCC provides documentation of the state of our children, and uses this information to encourage policymakers and the public alike to take action and help improve children's lives. Massachusetts Kids Count is part of a national and state-by-state initiative supported by the Annie E. Casey Foundation to track the status of children in the United States.

Massachusetts SBS Prevention Center

Since the early 1990s, MCC has been a leading spokesgroup for Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) prevention. Under the auspices of the new Massachusetts SBS Prevention Center, MCC reaches hundreds of parents, caretakers, professionals and the public through brochures and printed materials, requests on MCC's 800-CHILDREN line, media campaigns, and comprehensive SBS prevention education programs within birthing hospitals and in a wide range of family-serving organizations in the community. The SBS Prevention Center stands ready to provide technical assistance to other Massachusetts communities interested in supporting local SBS prevention education.

Enough Abuse Campaign

The Enough Abuse Campaign is a statewide citizen engagement initiative to educate and mobilize parents, prefessionals, and communitites to prevent child sexual abuse. Current campaign communities include Gloucester, Newton, and the 9-town North Quabbin region in north central Massachusetts. The Campaign is currently supported by a grant from the Ms. Foundation for Women.

Massachusetts Campaign for Children

MCC has the ability to educate and mobilize a large constituency of citizens who are concerned about the welfare of children and families in our state. We provide citizens with data and information about the pressing issues facing children, so they can speak with an educated voice and express their concerns to policymakers and legislators. With citizens working together toward a common goal and speaking with a common voice, we can accomplish more for the children of our state than any of us could do alone.
